IF THEY REJECT THEMSELVES, THERE ARE MANY OUTDOORS THAT ACCEPT

The Gospel is a proposal that always demands an answer. If the answer is for rejection, do not stand demobilized on the floor. Rather than litigating, we must insist that other answers will come. This is what Jesus does: rejected at Nazareth, he descends to Capernaum to spread the faith (cf. Lk 4:31).

If those within reject, there are many outside who accept. We must not give up on anyone, but we can not be conditioned by anyone either. Let us not be afraid to leave: there are so many people willing to come. The Gospel captivates, but never becomes captive: it captivates all, but without being captive of anyone. The Gospel is neither captive nor selective: it is forever and is for all. Therefore, it is imperative all means to use for all the gospel lead.

Jesus carries the Gospel on his lips and takes - much more - the Gospel in life. Jesus is therefore the living Gospel, the Gospel for life. And the Gospel of Jesus is, as St. Paul understood, a hymn of love, a hymn to love. Jesus did nothing but love. Jesus did nothing but show us what love is. Did we already learn?

It is that in this world, much is spoken of love, but much more is attentive against love. Love is present on our lips, but it seems chillingly absent from our life. We may not have found love yet. It is only when we find God - only when we let ourselves be found by God - that we have truly found love.
