Paschaltide Devotions in Honor of the Resurrection of Our Divine Lord

Instruction and Reflection on Paschaltide

"Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed." (1 Cor. 5:7) Glory be to the Father...

III. The Fruits of the Resurrection

"Since by a man came death, by a Man also comes the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made to live." (1 Cor. 15:22)

"If we have been united with Him in the likeness of His death, we shall be so in the likeness of His Resurrection also. For we know that our old self has been crucified with Him, in order that the body of sin may be destroyed, that we may no longer be slaves to sin." (Rom. 6:5:6)

"If the Spirit of Him Who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then He Who raised Jesus Christ from the dead will also bring to life your mortal bodies because of His Spirit Who dwells in you." (Rom. 8:11)

"And when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be made subject to Him Who subjected all things to Him, that God may be all in all." (1 Cor. 15:28)

Hymn: "Rex Sempiterne Cœlitum"

O Thou, the Heavens' eternal King, Creator, unto Thee we sing,
With God the Father ever one, coequal, coeternal Son.

Thy hand, when first the world began, made in Thine own pure image man,
And linked to Adam, sprung from earth, a living soul of heavenly birth.

And when by craft the envious foe had marred Thy noblest work below,
Clothed in our flesh, Thou didst restore the image Thou hadst made before.

Once wast Thou born of Mary's womb; and now, new-born from out the tomb,
O Christ, Thou bidd'st us rise with Thee from death to immortality.

Eternal Shepherd, Thou dost lave Thy flock in pure baptismal wave --
That mystic bath, that grave of sin, where ransomed souls new life begin.

Redeemer, Thou for us didst deign to hang upon the Cross of pain,
And give for us the lavish price of Thine own Blood in sacrifice.

Grant, Lord, in Thee each faithful mind unceasing Paschal joy may find;
And from the death of sin set free, souls newly born to life by Thee.

To Thee, once dead, Who now dost live, all glory, Lord, Thy people give,
Whom, with the Father, we adore, and Holy Ghost forevermore.

"If you have risen with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Mind the things that are above, not the things that are on earth." (Col. 3:1)

To the Eleven--

"Jesus stood in their midst and said to them, 'Peace to be to you! It is I, do not be afraid.' But they were startled and panic-stricken and thought they saw a spirit. And He said to them, 'Why are you disturbed, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? See My hands and feet, that it is I, Myself. Feel Me and see; for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.' And having said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. But as they still disbelieved and marveled for joy, He said, 'Have you anything here to eat?' And they offered Him a piece of broiled fish and a honeycomb. And when He had eaten in their presence, He took what remained and gave it to them. And He said to them, 'These are the words which I spoke to you while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled that are written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.' Then He opened their minds that they might understand the Scriptures. And He said to Them, 'Thus it is written: and thus the Christ should suffer, and should rise again from the dead on the third day; and repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His Name to all nations.'" (Luke 24:36-47)

Let us Pray. Grant, we beseech Thee, Almighty God, that the Paschal Sacrament which we have received may always continue to produce its effects within our souls; through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Hymn -- Regina Cæli Laetare

Queen of Heaven, rejoice; Alleluia!
For He Whom thou didst merit to bear; Alleluia!
Has risen as He said; Alleluia!
Pray for us to God. Alleluia!

V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, Alleluia;
R. For the Lord has truly risen, Alleluia!

Let us Pray. O God, Who by the Resurrection of Thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, has vouchsafed to make glad the whole world, grant, we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may attain the joys of eternal life; through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.
