LENT WITH OUR LADY SATURDAY IN LENT IV
One of the last words of Jesus, before giving up His Soul on the Cross, was spoken to St. John: “Son, behold thy mother,” and turning to His Blessed Mother He said: “Behold thy son,” and here she was charged with our care. She was OUR MOTHER.
O most Holy Virgin, who art fitly called the Consoler of the Afflicted, obtain for me of Jesus Christ thy Son, the grace never to lose heart in the day of trouble, and to seek no comfort but in Jesus and thyself. Grant that I may ever have confidence in thy maternal heart pierced with the sword of sorrow, and that I may find therein my true consolation.
Be of good cheer and make the best of everything. Cultivate the spirit of poverty and give an alms in honour of Our Lady’s poverty. Put your trust in God in all your afflictions, with cheerful resignation to His holy will. As the Apostle says: “To them that love God, all things work together unto good.”
Mother of love, of sorrow, and of mercy, pray
for us. 300 days
